The film is based on the story of Lucky Kunene, an underworld figure who in the 1990s. Lucky Kunene wanted out of life was a house by the water, a beautiful wife, and a seven series BMW. Unfortunately, Lucky hails from a poor Soweto family, and his application for a university grant has just been refused.
The Times writes about the film, “It's a big, striking, expressive film that is a snapshot of the look and feel of life in Joburg as it is, right here and now, and that is so rare in South African cinema that it's downright revolutionary”.
