The film inspired by Casa de las Américas Award winner José Soler Puig’s novel, Bertillón 166. The film depicts the insurrection, rebelliousness and also the solidarity in Santiago de Cuba, during the clandestine struggle of the urban fighters against Batista's dictatorship.

To practice and witness violence jeopardizes the dignity of the person, his or her future capacity for illusion, creativity, faith, although violence may be the only chance to survive.
